first job

Resigning from a job is not easy — so many fear to deal with and so much of unexpected questions coming from around that you feel really meaningless to answer.

More importantly, the world and the problems it throws on us, and the responsibilities we hold all stare at all time with over-expectation and hope.

Listen, job is the need of the hour. Unemployment and job competitions are constantly escalating. I have seen and heard so many of my friends in college and around, hunting for a job or opportunities. And so, if you choose to resign, you must be having some plan. However, if you don’t have — should you be WORRIED?

When I resigned, I had only options — this and that. Really… too many options. Each of those options matters to me and I was utterly confused where to put my hands on.

But, before talking about how it’s gonna be in future, let me take you through how it all started.

The Silly Me!

Maturity and experience comes with age and working-years.

I remember all my intense day-dreams I used to visualize when I was in my school days. I remember how I start with a small physics theory that earns me Noble Prize in just couple of weeks (All in my day dreams). I remember how I start a company that turn out to billion dollar MNC in just few months (all in my day-dream). I dreamed a lot, and that keeps me so silent for the world that everyone thinks odd of me.

During my intermediate, I started working on few theories of the universe (The Unified theory of Everything) that was kind of silly; I hypothesize so much of the content and it hopefully worked (At least in my opinion) and I progress ahead.

Note: The unified theory of everything is one that explain all the four forces of nature at one go. You don’t need different theories to explain each of them. String theory is one that ahead in this race, however for the string theory to be valid, we must have 12 dimensions of the universe. Trust me — we mess it more that we solve.

I began writing emails to experts regarding whatever silly thing I discover in those subject! And, now all of it makes me laugh😋!

Later in the starting years of my graduation, I started another cool stuff, that was again a failure (or unfinished). And, then I began discovering about entrepreneurship that attracted me a lot.

However, I didn’t stop dreaming yet. All impossible possibilities were possible in my day-dreams. Late night thinking about different ideas to start a company, and grow it, etc. etc. I kept thinking all of it (However, all those thought were not so mature)

And, one of the incident during my 3rd year earned me a job as Content Writer.

That’s where things start to change.

How My Content Writing Job Started?

Job came to me unexpected— I was not applying anywhere for job (because of my silly confidence) and all of sudden I heard of about the campus placement from a company that my roommate had attended.

He shared his day with me during dinner time (in hostel Mess) and I thought of applying to it; all because it was a startup company — and working at a startup company will help me to learn good about it. (thanks to God, that for some reason my confidence was down that night), And, it took me 1 hour after dinner to use my friend’s resume as template and fill-in my details. ( as I was never applying for job, hence I was not ready with any resume)

I applied as content writer at about 3 AM that night through email to HR. Next day I got a call, I informed about them how I missed their campus recruitment and willing to apply now. Fortunately she took my telephonic interview — it went cool and I was called to office some weeks later.

Later when I went to office, and as normal, everything was done, and I was chosen to work as content writer. Congratulations to me!

But, before I tell you what my first job teaches me more than content writing, let me tell you that I was so lazy, that any kind of negotiation was not my thing.

Recruiter says, sign here for this — I did. They says, sign here for that — I did. However, each documents were well written with information (And, later I found out how important it is to put your expectation to your recruiter before aggreging on theirs.)

The Importance of First Job In Life/Career?

No matter how rich or wealthy you are! The money you earned is always coming from someone else.

Money is neither created nor destroyed. It follows the Law of Conservations.

So, working for other is the first step of learning to make money — hence I make it a mandatory for all who wants huge fortune, must sincerely go through their first job.

It worked overall to my every aspect — economical, mental, mindset, physical, emotional, and others.

So, let’s check few:

  1. The first thing my first job teaches me is to be have patience — don’t rush to make too much mistakes. Good things take time. You need to give yourself time to learn anything. You need to give time to learn about someone.
  2. The second thing it teaches is about — teamwork. For the first time, I worked in a bigger team(more than 1). I learned how to cooperate with others, how to build team spirit? etc.
  3. The next thing, and the most important thing I discovered due to my first job is—how immature I was. I was learning the mechanism of corporate world, and comparing it with those of my day dreams; and I could notice the difference!
However, I agree how important those day dreams were — as a fuel to my soul. And my first job was building a perfect body for that soul — one that knows corporates skills, mechanism; fuel I already had.
  4. I learned the importance of business process.

Business in not about doing client’s work and making money. It more about building the process, that makes money.

5. One thing I learned about meetings — never do it for discussions. You can really discuss anything for the whole day and start again with no result. And, no matter what you discuss, you ultimately have to ask — what to do next? Ask that in the beginning!

A meeting must start with a problem/objective and must end with a outcome/result.

6. Also, one of the coolest thing I learned from the founder of the company — to listen very carefully. I appreciate and respect him for his listening nature; must and the most obvious skills for every entrepreneurs.

And, remember; listen to resolve not to argue more.

Apart from all these professional learning, I also earned some of the coolest friends. And, I would say ;

When I had job, I had clarity of my day-task, and now I am wondering. I am responsible for my own action now, and therefore I am more prone to mistakes. I am not having any guide, and so I need to guide myself, else I will be lost.

After resignation, secure salary is gone — and so there is a need to think on that as well. Overall, Job is such a darling!

But, I must say — sorry darling… 😋

First Thing to Do After Leaving the Job?

If you have plans to get another job — one that pays you more and, with better facilities and opportunities, then unfortunately you are reading the wrong article my friend.

You see the back button on the top, click there and quit further reading.

Bye bye… taaataaa…🙄

But, in case you want to hustle for full time after leaving your job. Stay with me. And, we will start with the first thing you should do is:

Change your MINDSET

Hell! Mindset confuses you?

Don’t worry, I would explain what that Damn thing means!

Mindset is how you unconsciously react to something you come across. It is not about what situation you face, but how your brain itself commands to your body without you being consciously involved into it.

So, suppose you love a girl; and its time to propose her. Let me tell you how two people of opposite mindset might hear their minds.

Mind voice of first person: If I propose her, she might reject and leave forever. It better to stay quite and let it be as it is.

Mind voice of second person: Where am I going to take her on dinner after she accepts me.

(Note- these thoughts are unconsciously created, they can consciously shift their mindset, and with training, that mindset will be permanent)

So, here one way to classify two mindset is how positive or negative they are being in the situation. There can be other ways to classify mindset, but most likely, your mindset must be always like — a child.

Do what you like, no matter how much you fail. Live today and forget the tomorrow. (Don’t be over motivated here)

A child has a winning mindset — because he focuses on what he like not on what he should like. They fight, and if they lose, they cry — and ultimately they want hell whatever it is.

Note: Dude! I am only recommending mindset as child — don’t be silly to start acting like child at mature age.

And, so what are those thing that you should be doing to change the mindset after leaving your job?

  1. Be calm. Organize thing in your mind.
  2. Forget about the responsibilities you hold during your job.
  3. Forget about all failure and success you achieved while in job. (its all gone, and so give space to new failure and success)
  4. Start travelling. Talk people that don’t give shit. Spend time with new things and discuss new ideas.
  5. Ignore social media as much as possible.
  6. You are now fully responsible for your plan and action. So, prepare yourself to rule your mind and body.
  7. Be emotionally stable (with your family and relationship)
  8. Discover some ways to keep your pocket filled with cash. (important — else all your motivation will turn down to yourself)
  9. Read books, wake up early, take cold shower in morning and eat healthy.

With all these in practice, you will have your new mindset —

What’s Next Now?

Of course — my silly day dream. That’s what I will do next.

No matter how many times we fail, we shouldn’t stop trying another time.

There is a good proverb — Nana Korobi, ya oki; which has a beautiful meaning — if you fall seven times, you rise eight times. And, that we should follow. And. that what makes the music for an entrepreneur.

So, hold your mindset, secure cash in pocket and exploreeee this damn world. 😎 (well! that just in article — reality is much boring😒)

Wrapping Up

I learned several life-changing lessons in my first job and I am sure that those lessons will keep me ahead in several areas.

But job is gone now — and so should it’s mindset must go too.

And, so that the first thing you must do — change your mindset. And, your life will automatically change.
